Fastest-charging electric cars
Ranked by peak DC rapid-charging power, from up to 600 kW (Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-Door Coupé 53 4MATIC+). Peak speed is only reached for part of a charge, and charging is slower in cold weather or when the battery is nearly full, so real-world stops are longer than peak figures suggest.

Guide prices are approximate and some may already include the Electric Car Grant. Pure EV range is a typical real-world estimate; plug-in hybrid range is the official electric-only figure. Battery chemistry is shown only where a source names it. *Warranty depends on servicing conditions. "Check" means we have not confirmed it: ask the seller. Reliability: see the Warrantywise Reliability Index (built from used-car repair data, so many new models have no score).
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to charge an electric car?
At home, a 7 kW wallbox adds roughly 25 to 30 miles of range per hour, so most cars fill overnight. At a public rapid charger, a car that can accept 100 kW or more often adds 10 to 80 percent in 20 to 40 minutes; slower-charging cars take longer. Our charge-time calculator gives an estimate for your battery and charger.
What charging connectors do UK electric cars use?
Modern EVs sold in the UK use a Type 2 socket for AC charging and CCS for DC rapid charging. A few older cars, such as early Nissan Leaf models, use CHAdeMO for rapid charging. Charging cables are supplied or available for the connector your car needs.
