Privacy and cookies

This notice explains what happens to information when you use bewiseapps.com and the Be Wise apps on it. In short: you do not need an account, we do not keep a copy of your chats on our own servers, and analytics cookies are only used if you accept them.
Who we are
Be Wise Apps, including bewiseapps.com and every Be Wise app on it, is created and run by Jason Edwin Donovan, who is responsible for the personal information described in this notice (the “data controller”).

Information you type into an app
When you send a question to one of the AI assistants, or ask an app to draft or explain something, what you type is sent through our server (a Cloudflare Worker) to our AI provider, Groq, which generates the reply. If Groq is unavailable, the reply is generated instead by Cloudflare Workers AI, run by our hosting provider Cloudflare, in the same way. Since 20 October 2026 the AI assistants also send the words of your question to a web search provider, Brave Search, when the app’s own guides do not fully answer it or the answer may have changed, so that the reply reflects the latest official information. E-mail addresses and phone numbers are removed before a question is searched, and a Be Wellness Wise profile is never searched. Search results are kept on our server for up to three days, without anything that identifies you, so that the same question does not need a new search. To stop misuse, each assistant also counts how many web searches a visitor makes in a day, using a scrambled (hashed) form of the visitor’s internet address that cannot be turned back into the address and is deleted after one day. These providers process the text to produce that one reply. We do not keep a copy of your conversations on our own servers.
Groq and Brave are based in the United States, so your question may be processed outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Please do not include names, contact details, identification numbers or other personal details in a question unless they are needed for the answer. If you choose to describe health symptoms in Be Wellness Wise, or an injury in Be Injury Wise, that description is sent to the AI provider, and its words may be searched, in the same way to answer your question.
Information kept in your own browser
Some apps save things in your own browser so that they work as you expect, for example Be Wellness Wise profiles, a business profile or reminders in Be Rwanda Wise or Be Vietnam Wise, whether you dismissed the “install” banner, and your cookie choice. This stays on your device and is not sent to us. The one exception is a Be Wellness Wise profile that you choose to include with a question using the “Include profile” option: the profile lines you have entered (for example age, sex, conditions and medicines) are then sent with that question to the AI provider in the same way as the question itself, for that question only, and are not kept by us. You can clear all of this at any time through your browser settings.
Be Contract Wise saves each contract you generate, and its earlier versions, in your browser so that you can come back to it later. These saved drafts are kept only on your device and are never sent to us. You can delete any saved draft from the app’s home screen at any time, or clear them all through your browser settings. If you choose “Save a copy to this device”, the file is downloaded to your own device and is yours to keep or delete. Because this storage is strictly necessary to provide a feature you ask for, it does not need your cookie consent. A contract you upload for review is not saved in this way: its text is sent to the AI service to produce the review and is not kept on our servers (see “Documents you upload for review” below).
Other apps save things in your browser in the same way. Be Crime Wise saves your chat history, your saved chat sessions, the answers you bookmark and any reminders you set. Be Wellness Wise saves your chat history and the answers you save, as well as your profiles. A question you type into the Be Wellness Wise chat may be sent to the live web-search service (Brave Search), with e-mail addresses and phone numbers removed, so that recent official information can be found. Be Small Claims Wise saves your case file: the details you type about your claim and about the other party. Be Consumer Wise saves the chats you choose to keep. All of this stays on your device and is not sent to us. Every app’s menu has a “Clear saved data” item that removes all of this from your device in one step; your cookie choice is kept.
Documents you upload for review
When you upload a contract to Be Contract Wise for review, the text is read in your own browser first. Scanned pages and photos are converted to text in your browser too; the images themselves are not sent to us. Only the extracted text is then sent through our server to Groq to produce the review, in the same way as a question (see above). We do not keep a copy of the document or the review on our own servers.
Company look-ups
If you use the “Look up a UK company” option in Be Contract Wise, the company name you type is sent through our server to Companies House, the UK public register of companies, to find matching companies. Nothing else about you is sent, and we do not keep a record of your search.
Finding a solicitor or lawyer
The “Find a solicitor” and “Find a lawyer” features do not collect your details or pass them to anyone. You choose whether to contact a listed firm, and you contact it directly. In Be Injury Wise, any estimate summary you copy stays on your device until you decide to share it yourself.
Be University Wise
Be University Wise is built so that you can use it without giving us any personal information.
- Your answers stay on your device. The grades, subjects, preferences, country and budget you enter, and any postcode, are processed only in your own browser to work out your UCAS points and your list of courses. They are not sent to us or stored, and they are gone when you close the page. Only the first letters of a postcode (the postcode area) are used, on your device, to estimate distances.
- Your shortlist is saved only in your own browser on your device, so that it is there when you come back. It is never sent to us. You can delete it with “Clear shortlist” in the app or through your browser settings. Because this storage is strictly necessary to provide a feature you ask for, it does not need your cookie consent.
- Rankings and suggestions are produced by fixed rules applied to official data, on your device. We do not build a profile of you or use your answers to target advertising.
- Ask: questions you type into Ask are handled in the same way as questions to our other AI assistants (see “Information you type into an app” above). Please do not include your name, contact details or other personal details.
- Monthly checks: our server reads public GOV.UK pages once a month to check that visa, fee and student finance figures are up to date. This does not involve any information about you.
Be EV Wise
Chargers near me and the range map. If you type a postcode, your browser looks it up with postcodes.io, a free UK postcode service, to find its map position; postcodes.io receives the postcode and your internet address in the normal way. If you choose “Use my location”, your browser asks your permission first, and the app rounds your position to about 1 km before using it. Map images for the range map come from OpenStreetMap.
The chargers map is provided by Open Charge Map and is shown inside our page only after you ask for it (by searching or pressing “Show the map”). Open Charge Map then receives your internet address and the map position we pass to it (from your postcode, or your position rounded to about 1 km), and anything you do inside the map, such as letting it find your location, is handled by Open Charge Map under its own terms and privacy policy. If we also list rapid chargers below the map, only the rounded map position (not the postcode) is sent through our server to Open Charge Map for that list, and the result is kept in our server’s cache for up to 24 hours, keyed by that position, so that repeated searches are quick; it is not linked to you.
Information kept in your own browser. Your compare list, your Find my EV answers, the used-car checklist ticks and your light or dark display choice are saved only in your browser so the app works as you expect. They are not sent to us. A shortlist link you choose to copy contains your Find my EV answers so that whoever opens it sees the same shortlist.
Email alerts. If you sign up for Be EV Wise email alerts, we keep your email address, the alerts you chose (new models, price drops, Electric Car Grant list changes) and the date you signed up. We first send you an email asking you to confirm; if you do not confirm within 48 hours, your address is deleted automatically. We use your address only to send the alerts you asked for, at most one email a day, never for marketing or advertising, and we do not share it with advertisers. Every email has a link to unsubscribe; when you use it we delete your address straight away. We rely on your consent to send alerts, and you can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
Your address is stored on our server (Cloudflare), and the emails are sent for us by Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.), an email delivery service that acts only on our instructions. Resend is based in the United States, so your address is processed outside the UK; the transfer is covered by Resend’s certification under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Questions to EVBot, including “Ask about this page” on the guide pages, are handled in the same way as questions to our other AI assistants (see above), together with the title and address of the page you are reading.
Be Software Architecture Wise
You can read every chapter of Be Software Architecture Wise without giving us any information. The tests, the final assessment and the certificate work as follows.
- Reading progress (which sections you have opened) and your answers while you take a test are saved only in your own browser. They are not sent to us until you submit a test.
- Resume code and scores. When you start your first test, our server creates a random twelve-character resume code. Your test scores, the dates, and which questions you were given are stored on our server (Cloudflare) against that code, without your name or contact details, so that you can continue on another device. Anyone who has your code can see your scores and continue as you, including claiming your certificate, so keep it to yourself. Your scores are kept for two years after your last test, or until you ask us to delete them sooner: send us your resume code and we will.
- Written answers and case studies are sent through our server to our AI provider (Groq, or Cloudflare Workers AI if Groq is unavailable) to be marked against the published criteria. Written test answers are kept with the attempt for 40 days, so that you can ask for a second marking, and are then deleted automatically. Case studies are kept for 90 days, for second marking and so that we can check the quality of the marking, and are then deleted automatically. Please do not include personal details in them.
- Your certificate. If you claim a certificate, we store your name exactly as you enter it, the date, your grade and overall score and the certificate number, linked to your resume code. The public certificate check shows the name, date, grade and number to anyone who enters the number, which is the purpose of the certificate. These details are kept for as long as the certificate is valid. You can ask us to withdraw a certificate; it will then show as withdrawn and we will delete your name from it.
- Limits against misuse. To stop automated misuse, the number of requests and tests from one connection is counted for up to a day, using a scrambled (hashed) form of the internet address that cannot be turned back into the address.
- Reporting a question. If you report a problem with a test question, we keep the question number and the note you type, not your resume code.
- ArchitectBot: questions are handled in the same way as questions to our other AI assistants (see “Information you type into an app” above).
Analytics cookies
With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and clicks on links such as outbound links and contact links. Google Analytics does not run, and sets no cookies, unless you press “Accept analytics”. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

You can change your choice at any time.
Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers to download them, sharing your IP address as any web request does.
Hosting and security
The site and its servers are hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses and request details to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse.
If you use a contact form, email or message us
If you send us a message through one of our contact forms, or email us, we use your message and contact details to reply, and keep them only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Messages sent through a contact form are delivered to us by email through Cloudflare, and the forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check that helps confirm the message is being sent by a person rather than an automated program. If you contact an advertiser listed in an app, what you share with them is a matter between you and that advertiser.
Why we can use your information
- Answering the questions you send and producing what you ask an app to produce: to provide the service you have requested.
- Analytics: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Be EV Wise email alerts: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
- Be Software Architecture Wise tests, marking and certificates: to provide the service you have requested; keeping case studies for 90 days to check the quality of the marking, and the public certificate check: our legitimate interest, and yours, in certificates that can be relied on.
- Hosting, security and replying to messages: our legitimate interest in running a safe, working site and answering you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. Because we hold very little information about visitors, most requests will concern messages you have sent us. To make a request, email us (click to show the address).
You can also complain to a data protection authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office; in the EU, the authority in your country; in Rwanda, the National Cyber Security Authority’s Data Protection and Privacy Office.
Children and young people
Most Be Wise apps are designed for adults and are not aimed at children.
Be University Wise is designed for people aged 16 and over, including school and college students choosing a university. It works without an account and without sending us your answers, it does not profile users, analytics runs only if you accept analytics cookies, and its advertising is limited to student accommodation, banking, insurance and British Council-trained education agents. Advertising never affects its rankings or the lists it shows you. If you are under 18, you may find it helpful to talk through your choices with a parent, carer, teacher or careers adviser.

If we change how information is handled, we will update this page and the date at the top.
